The CA Final Course is the final Stage and most difficult step in becoming a Chartered Accountant. The final level is divided into two groups, each having eight papers to complete. Candidates who pass both groups of the CA Intermediate course and have completed at 3 years of practical training and have participated in AICITSS are eligible to register for Final exams at any month or date prior to taking the CA Final exam, which is held twice a year in the months of May and November. A student can become a member of ICAI and be classified as a CA after completing articled training and passing both Final Course groups with a minimum of 40% in each topic and 50% overall.

The ICAI has decreased the number of CA Final papers from 8 to 6 in the CA New Scheme 2024. There are currently 2 groups, each of which will include 3 papers.
Significant revisions made to the CA Final Subjects include:

CA Final Exam Pattern
All CA Final examinations will have 30% MCQs, much like the new CA Intermediate course 2024. Additionally, each incorrect objective response will receive a 0.25 negative marking.
The CA Final exemption regulations are identical to CA Intermediate.
A candidate is said to score exemption in any paper when he secures 60 or more marks in that respective paper. Such exemption will be valid for only 3 attempts that means the student has to qualify the other papers of that group in next 3 attempts. The exemption can be availed subject to passing marks of 50% in each paper.
The concept of Accounting Technician Course (ATC) has been replaced by the Business Accounting Associate (BAA). Students who are unable to qualify the final stage may go for this option after fulfilling the prescribed criteria.
Some relevant changes have been brought about in the Practical Training Structure under the Proposed Scheme. Such significant changes are as follows:
The length of the CA Articleship has been shortened by ICAI from three years to two years the fact that all CA applicants can now become CAs sooner than before is fantastic news for everyone.
However, there is a need for candidates who desire to become practitioners along with the shorter CA Articleship time.
Students who want to work as CAs must have one year of experience at a firm that specializes in chartered accounting. They will then be given a practice certificate.
Existing CAs will be considered to have met this requirement if they have spent one year working for a CA company in the previous five years. Aspirants who are looking for employment are not subject to this requirement.

According to the CA New Scheme 2024, students must pass both the CA Intermediate group exams and the ICITSS training to be qualified to begin the articleship training.
The change will be advantageous to the student because they can now completely concentrate on their practical training without having to worry about studying for exams.
Many students frequently lament the meagre pay they get for their CA Articleship. ICAI has thus agreed to increase the stipend by 100%. This change will be very much welcomed by the students, the stipend paid to article assistants presently will be doubled under the new scheme, i.e. 100% increment in the existing payment.
The ICAI has decreased the amount of leaves because students are not required to take tests during the practical training. Only 12 leaves are permitted for students every year, for a total of 24 leaves across two years.
