Chartered Accountancy (CA) Eligibility Criteria:
To become a Chartered Accountant, a candidate must complete a training program and pass exams at various levels administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
CA Foundation Route Eligibility Criteria:
Eligibility to appear for the CA Foundation exam, the candidate must have passed Class 12 and should enroll as a student with ICAI & then should complete four months of study in CA Foundation Course.
Criteria for Eligibility for the CA Direct Entry Route:
For direct entry into the CA Intermediate course, the candidate must meet the following eligibility requirements:
Graduates/postgraduates from the Commerce stream with at least a 55% aggregate or equivalent score can apply for this entry route. They must be studied Accounting, , Mercantile Laws, Auditing, Economics, Management (including Financial Management), Taxation (including Direct Tax Laws and Indirect Tax Laws), Corporate Laws, Costing, Business Administration, or Management Accounting, & with the related major as core subjects.
Candidates who have passed the Intermediate level examinations conducted by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India or The Institute of Company Secretaries of India are also eligible for direct Entry of CA Intermediate Course. Candidates who meet these criteria are excluded from taking the Foundation course and can enroll in the Intermediate course directly.
Can a non-commerce student become CA- Chartered accountant?
Yes, Graduates and postgraduates from non-commerce fields must have received at least a 60% aggregate or equivalent grade in any recognized university (including Open University). For pursuing CA Course.
On a provisional basis, candidates in their final year at College can enroll in the Intermediate course. Such candidates' registration would be regularized only if they submitted their final year mark-sheet or passing certificate within six months of appearing in the final year graduation examination. Provided a student can attend the ICITSS (Orientation Course and Information Technology) a training program which is mandatory for pursuing CA Intermediate Course. CA Intermediate Course New Syllabus 2024
There will no longer be 8 examinations in the CA Intermediate course; instead, there will only be 6 papers as per the new new revision.
CA Final Course New Syllabus 2024
The ICAI has decreased the number of CA Final papers from 8 to 6 in the CA New Scheme 2024. There are currently 2 groups, each of which will include 3 papers
CA Self-paced Modules ICAI 2024
ICAI has introduced the self-paced modules under the new scheme of education and training. Students can study these modules at their own pace and give online exams.
The self-paced modules are divided into four sets: Set A, Set B, Set C, and Set D.
To become eligible for the CA Final exams, students have to clear these 4 sets. To clear these modules, they have to score more than 50% marks in each module
Eligibility for CA Articleship, 2024
According to the CA New Scheme 2024, students must pass both the CA Intermediate group exams and the ICITSS training to be qualified to begin the articleship training.
The change will be advantageous to the student because they can now completely concentrate on their practical training without having to worry about studying for exams.
Stipend for CA Articleships 2024 syllabus
Many students frequently lament the meagre pay they get for their CA Articleship. ICAI has thus agreed to increase the stipend by 100%. This change will be very much welcomed by the students, the stipend paid to article assistants presently will be doubled under the new scheme, i.e. 100% increment in the existing payment.
Leaves for CA Articleship 2024 New syllabus
The ICAI has decreased the amount of leaves because students are not required to take tests during the practical training. Only 12 leaves are permitted for students every year, for a total of 24 leaves across two years.

Revised CA Course Details 2024
- Students can opt an option to undergo industrial training in the last 9 to 12 months of their practical training.
- The Soft Skills training will be twice in the course, once before starting the practical training and another one before appearing for Final examination. The Information Technology training should be completed before appearing for Final examination.
- The members of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India desirous of taking Certificate of Practice (COP) have to undergo One year post qualification work experience in a Chartered Accountants Firm. This requirement can be done away with if the member has worked with any Fellow Chartered Accountant Firm for one year in last 5 years before making such application of COP.
- The Four Self- Paced Modules are interesting additions in the Course where First and Second Module is compulsory online module designed by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, namely, Economic Laws & Strategic Cost Management and Performance Evaluation. The Third and Fourth Modules are optional online modules, where students are supposed to choose from the various alternatives available.
- Candidates can enter into Intermediate Course through Direct Entry Route also. Following candidates are eligible for Intermediate Level through Direct Entry Route: Candidates who have qualified the Intermediate Level examination of Institute of Cost Accountants of India or Institute of Company Secretaries of India.
